The Kecskemét site of Autóflex-KNOTT Kft. underwent significant improvements between 2021-2022, which were supported by the National Export Protection Programme’s Foreign Market Growth Support grant, which we would like to express our thanks for. This is how our new KTL painting equipment, which we would like to present to you in more detail, was realized.
The old and new KTL equipment
We believe in the need for continuous innovation. We believe that this is the only way to maintain and increase our competitiveness, which is the key to long-term success.
Although our existing KTL equipment is only ten or so years old, the installation of a larger, more modern, more efficient machine has become essential for our expansion into new markets.
Our old KTL coating equipment still uses a continuously moving track system with a constant speed. This makes it more difficult to control cycle times and baking temperatures.
Our new KTL equipment represents some of the most advanced technology available today. Cataphoresis e-coating (hereafter referred to as KTL) is a technology that is also used in the automotive industry. In addition to the excellent corrosion resistance of the parts painted on the automatic KTL coating line, an even layer is obtained, covering even the smallest gaps, corners and cavities. This allows us to significantly improve the efficiency of production. You can even adjust the baking temperature per batch and control cycle times (the time it takes to paint products on a trolley) more efficiently. Each work phase may precede the other. Furthermore, the production management is digitalized.
With the new KTL equipment we can produce better-quality and even more durable products faster and more efficiently.
We continue to use the old KTL equipment which is now undergoing a major refurbishment.
The procedure itself consists of 3 steps:
- Chemical surface treatment
- Painting process
- Baking
Spray booth
It’s worth mentioning that our paint shop also has a spray booth, where we can apply a thicker coat of paint and use different colours.
